We call the photos disphotos, but when it comes to her death, Melissa Carr’s family wants the government to avoid ‘cosmetic tourism’

Buttock enlargement surgery – Also known as Brazilian butt lift (BBL), buttock enlargement surgery is the fastest growing cosmetic surgery procedure, but it is also one of the most dangerous.
The British government says it will meet Turkish officials to discuss regulations on medical and beauty tourism.
Reports were later released that several Pipo men who had traveled to Turkey to get their buttocks enlarged had died.
Melissa Kerr, 31, died in 2019 during a buttock enlargement (Brazilian butt lift) surgery at the private Medicana Hasnedar Hospital in Istanbul.
After fat was removed from part of her body and injected into her butt during one liposuction procedure, a deadly blood clot traveled to her lungs.
One coroner has expressed concern that coroners do not give her enough information before traveling abroad.
Health Minister Maria Caulfield said the government was taking the issue “seriously” in her response to a report into preventing future deaths written by Jacqueline Lake, Norfolk’s chief coroner.
Ms Caufield-Tok said officials from the Department of Health and Social Care “will soon travel to Turkey to meet with relevant stakeholders”.
In August 2020, a mother of three died after having liposuction for Turkey, while the BBC reported that seven British patients died after one weight loss surgery in Di Contri. I reported the situation.

Wetin what we call diss photo, Melissa Carr died during cosmetic surgery in Turkish hospital in 2019
Ms Binh, who will be replaced by the Conservative Party’s Ms Caulfield as Minister for Mental Health and Women’s Health Strategy, expressed her “deepest condolences” to the Dy Carr family and said: “We are working hard to prevent future deaths. It’s very important that I pass on to her what I learned from her.”
“Of particular importance, those considering Brazilian butt lift (BBL) surgery should be fully aware of the risks and allow time to consider their surgical decision thoroughly before surgery. ‘ said Ms Caulfield.
“The risk of death from BBL surgery is at least 10 times higher after undergoing many cosmetic procedures.”
She said there was a need to consider how to “effectively communicate” information about the risks of international travel.
As the UK government looks at the impact of global health tourism, Minister Toku said: “There is a strong focus on the number of British nationals traveling to Turkey for medical purposes.”
The BBC has contacted the Turkish Ministry of Health for comment.

They use BBL to make their butts bigger, rounder, or lifted.
Surgeons can insert silicone-filled implants or inject or transfer fat from the buttock area.
Despite the risks, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) has rated it the fastest growing type of cosmetic surgery, saying its popularity is increasing by 20% each year.
Last year, BAAPS issued new guidelines to its members that imposed a four-year suspension, or suspension, on BBL due to high mortality rates.
Currently, only surgeons are not recommended to perform the procedure named superficial gluteal lipofilling (SGL). BBL uses fat harvested from the body and injects it under the skin, whereas BBL inserts fat deep into the muscles.
It also recommends that surgeons use ultrasound scans to check cannula usage while also having surgeons perform only SGLs.
Why does Pipo want surgery?
Dr Anu Sail Bennett, a consultant clinical psychologist and chartered member of the British Psychological Society, said she felt the allure of celebrity culture and the perfect photo on social media were behind the BBL trend. .
She said celebrities like Kim Kardashian have amazingly curvaceous bodies and are a driving force in fashion.
“There’s a lot of information out there about body positivity, and there’s a lot of pressure on women and men to look a certain way,” says Dr. Sayle-Bennett.
Plastic surgeons often send patients to her because they recognize the importance of psychological testing.
She says ethics for surgeons says they shouldn’t perform surgery if the patient doesn’t meet the criteria, but warns against such cases worldwide.
Why does Pipo Day Travel go abroad for Brazilian Butt Lift?
Advertisements for cosmetic surgery clinics in Turkey feature very beautiful photos of women inside swimsuits to promote the procedure, and also special offers for patients participating in the procedure.
Dr Sayle Bennett said the ad was “very seductive”.
“Glossy ad: Perfect for grabbing a BBL, sipping cocktails, and vacationing at the beach, and it’s super cheap.
“But that’s not going to happen — it’s going to be a major surgery.”
The deciding factor is the money for the procedure, Dr. Nora Nugent, vice president of BAAPS tok.
“In the UK, fit surgery costs between £6,000 and £12,000, but e-fit passes that amount.
“I see advertisements for this surgery in Turkey ranging from £3,500 to £5,000,” Dr Nugent added.
“Even if surgeons follow BAAPS guidelines and are unable to perform surgeries between 2018 and 2022, some pipo bins will still end up overseas.”
Both experts agree that glossy foreign images do not rhyme with reality.
“Removal of fat is good for some areas, but it can also cause swelling and bruising,” explains Dr. Nugent. Masu.
“I need a padded bandage and a compression bandage to keep me from going to the beach.”
Both doctors emphasize the importance of aftercare after surgery.
Why is this procedure so dangerous?
The British coroner’s office is torching the deaths of three women, Melissa Kerr and Abimbola Ajoke-Bambose, of Dartford, Kent, and Leah Cambridge, of Leeds, but the BBL and related Sometimes I have to travel to Turkey for the procedure.
Pipo injects fat into large veins on their way to major organs, so you won’t die during BBL.
Parliamentarians were informed that surgery would not be performed in 2018 due to the high mortality rate of BAAPS.
Detects various complications from severe bacterial infections, including MRSA, tissue necrosis, scarring, wound rupture, and abscesses.
In 2018, BAAPS Bin heard that London hospital Bin had seen a six-fold increase in the number of patients requiring urgent follow-up care due to surgeries undertaken overseas since 2013.
Ms Kerr’s inquest said the death rate was 1 in 4,000, but Dr Nugent said more recent research suggested the death rate could be in the range of 1 in 13,000 to 15,000. He said that it shows that he has a high level of sexuality.
Will Wetin go to Turkey for BBL before traveling?
This year, BAAPS bin issued a joint statement on patient safety with the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (TSPRAS).
Organizations are advising anyone traveling to Turkey to undergo plastic surgery to follow new guidelines.
The government has issued guidelines on BAAPS, stating that complications for patients going abroad for treatment will increase by 35% in 2022.
“We cannot stop Pipo from traveling abroad. Insurance and hospital costs in the UK are very high,” Dr Nugent said.
“But at least we can’t point them out about the questions the surgeon is likely to ask, how the surgery was performed, and routine aftercare details.”
New advice for potential patients planning to travel to Turkey:
Check if your Turkish surgeon is a member of TSPRAS (Turkish Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons) and has Turkish academic accreditation. The plastic surgeon believes she has been practicing in her specialty for at least five years. Surgeons see fit to provide an aftercare plan and patients should:Turkey requires you to fill out a comprehensive consent form before traveling, so you’ll need to know the person’s name and contact information.
