The showers were effective in Erzurum.
Following heavy rains in Erzurum’s Ortu district, flooding caused by a river overflowing its banks in the rural Çatak district caused the collapse of a bridge, damaging many houses and barns, destroying nearby roads and washing away 50 hives containing bees.
Heavy rain began falling in the Oltu area in the afternoon, and the Meteorological Service issued a Code Yellow warning. The downpours caused flooding in the area, where rain had been falling continuously for about a week. The floodwaters caused the Dumbully River, which runs through the village, to overflow. The floodwaters destroyed the village’s bridge, and four houses and a barn were also damaged. 50 residents’ beehives were washed away by the floodwaters, and a road in the village was also destroyed.
One neighbour, Firat Dursun, said flooding had damaged homes and roads, while Meknun Avci said the area had been hit by three days of rain.

AK Party Erzurum MPs Serami Altunok, Mehmet Emin Oz and Abdulrahim Furat inspected the area following flooding in the rural Çatak district, while AK Party provincial chairman Ibrahim Küçükogor and Ortu Mayor Adem Çelebi met with residents and inspected the affected areas.
Stating that a second flood disaster had occurred in Çatak district, Ortu Mayor Adem Çelebi said: “Today we experienced a new flood disaster in our neighborhood. After the flood two days ago, the river was clear. But it flooded again. The flood destroyed bridges and destroyed roads. We will meet with the DSI Regional Directorate and start working on rebuilding the area,” he said.
