Minister Tunchi used the following statement in a post on his social media account:
“The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office launched an ex officio investigation on June 16, 2024, shortly after the post was shared, due to the video content shared on the social media account Yer6 that used derogatory, ugly and provocative language regarding the Prophet. The charge is ‘publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility,’ and an arrest warrant has been issued for Tema, as Diamant is overseas.
Provocative, ugly and provocative language used in reference to Islam and our beloved Prophet is never acceptable.
“The investigation is ongoing thoroughly.”
what happened?
An investigation was launched into a YouTube channel called “Yer6” in which Aslun Tok and Diamond Tema discussed Islamic Sharia law, claiming that the show “offended a section of the public and disrespected religious values.”
Aslan Dermensi, the Presidency’s Communications and Digital Media Coordinator, said in a statement on his social media account that “an investigation has been launched against a person named Diamond Tema, who insulted the Prophet in a program called Yer6, for the crime of insulting a segment,” which also demanded a ban on access, as it insults the religious values of the public, as regulated in paragraphs two and three of TCK 216/216.
Diamond Tema shared about the investigation, saying, “I’m fine, guys, there’s no problem. We haven’t committed any crime. We’ve spoken to our sources. There’s no problem legally or morally. We’re making a statement, this case is like an atheist arguing with a Sharia supporter, an atheist blaspheming a prophet.”
