AKP’s Celik responds to Bahceli: No alliance with CHP
“We are not allied with the CHP.”
We are not going to abandon the AK Party, and they are not going to abandon the CHP.
Our alliance is called the People’s Alliance. There is no change in its quality and principles. The CHP did not say, “I will join the People’s Alliance, I will renounce what I said.” There is a war going on over Turkey. Mass genocide is being committed by Netanyahu below. It is unclear where the tensions between China and Taiwan will go. The situation in Greece has reached a certain level, but if you look at the situation in Serbia, Kosovo, and the Balkans. Turkiye is in the middle of it all. In politics, we should not be adversaries. We should not see politics as a competitive arena. I said, let’s not have politics where we can’t go to each other’s funerals and weddings. Our political parties may be different, our temperaments, affiliations, and identities may be different, but we all said our last name is the Republic of Turkey.
“There will be two poles in politics.”
There will be polar opposites in politics. Politics is produced in the dialectic of polarities. We should not do this by clenching our fists or alienating each other. We have two identities. We have a political identity. We need to act responsibly as politicians. We need to keep Turkey’s immune system strong. Of course, it is respectable for the people to vote for different parties. If you overlay politics on a system of building walls, it is anti-politics. The unity and solidarity of the People’s Alliance will continue in the strongest possible form. There was a problem in the parliament, but the deputies do not meet each other? He does. When tensions are rising and the parliament speaker says, “Go back there, friends,” is it not discussed? Let’s admit it here. When the CHP normalizes here, the door is already open in this regard.
Politicians have a rich vocabulary.
There are many words in Turkish. The vocabulary of politicians is wide. Here the dialogue process begins. Well, we came to the AK Party headquarters. We announced that we were satisfied with this. Then the president visited again. From now on, the word “accomplice” has nothing to do with political understanding. Ozgür Bey is an experienced politician. We served as parliament members many times. There are constitutional courts and economic issues there. You use the word “crime” when describing them. You have been through a long period of history of criminalizing normal politics. You have criminalized politics by the hostility of the regime and the one-man regime, even though normal political activities are being carried out. We are not saying that the CHP should not oppose. Is there no other word than this? What do you mean, accomplice? Who committed what crimes? We have implemented our own political plans and conducted political activities. We have achieved these within the legitimate limits of politics and the law. What does this mean, accomplice?
“We need to focus on the problem.”
There is no need to play politics with tension. We need to focus on the issues here. Our respected President, as the head of state, said, “Let’s all come together on the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.” Cyprus is our national cause. Therefore, the Cyprus Peace Operation is a heroic peace operation conducted to defend the honor of our country. Of course, we will not forget the politicians who performed heroic acts in this. There is talk of a new wave of fascism on the rise in Europe. Our respected President instructed Mr. Ezer to “carry out activities to explain Turkey’s claims to close associates of socialist international organizations.”
“It’s necessary for political decorum.”
I am very careful about this, I am being very careful. Political etiquette must be respected. It was said as if it was prepared long ago and announced in a hurry. Not like that. We met with the respected President, we evaluated these things with Mr. Mustafa Elitash, we took notes and discussed them. You were a gracious host here, we said thank you. Calling him an “accomplice” two days later goes against political etiquette and reason.
“There are no small rifts in the People’s Alliance.”
It is up to the discretion of our friends of the MHP to interpret and explain the meaning of the formula here. No one can guarantee that 100% of party members think this way about a particular policy of every party. The board and cadres who decide the main policies of the AK Party strongly support the People’s Alliance and act sensitively. MYK and MKYK meetings are closed to the press. The respected President, in his preamble, constantly evaluates the Central Executive Committee and MKYK members on how we see the coming period in terms of domestic and foreign politics, economy. He gives instructions and assigns tasks. There is one thing that never changes at meetings. The respected President of our country always emphasizes the protection of the sensitivity of the People’s Alliance. As the Chairman, all the Chairman’s statements are bound by the party’s opinion. There are no small cracks in the People’s Alliance.
“An alliance of peoples is an alliance of principles”
While our president is prime minister, CHP deputies come on presidential trips abroad. It was abruptly terminated during the Baikal era, let’s leave it. They did not want this dialogue. I will not say it now. The dialogue is held to discuss certain issues. An alliance means walking in unity under a certain roof. There are many rumors that the AK Party will leave the MHP and the MHP will leave the AK Party. Both the president and Mr. Bahçeli emphasize one thing: the People’s Alliance is an alliance of principles. It emerged to protect Turkey. It is not an alliance of interests. Is there a more beautiful sentence than “Allah is enough for me”? Of course, the constituent parties of the People’s Alliance do not abandon their original identity, original character and political positions to become a single party. These form a framework on basic issues and principles. The assessments of both sides may differ, but this is not enough to damage the unity and integrity of the alliance. Both parties have their own characters. We have come to this day after the events that have arisen since July 15. We continue to look towards the “Turkish Century” in terms of the unity of the President and Mr. Bahceli, and the unity of the political parties. After all, a strong alliance that has stood the test of time has confirmed its unity and solidarity.
