AKP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Omer Celik made the statement regarding the meeting between President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan and CHP Chairman Ozgür Ézer.
“We have always wanted this, during Baikal’s time and beyond. Let’s sit around the table and discuss our issues, not talk with our fists,” Celik told Habertürk, referring to the meeting between Erdogan and Ezer. The AK Party will not stop being the AK Party, he said, and “the CHP will not stop being the CHP, they will not stop defending our policies, they will not stop criticizing us, and we will not have an alliance.”
“Have you been to the Crime Center?”
“Bahceli should not take it lightly. He should not let his country fall into this state and make us his accomplices,” Çelik said, criticising Ézer’s remarks.
– There was a dialogue process, you came to the AK Party headquarters and announced that we were very happy with it. Our President made a second visit as the head of the AK Party. Your use of the word “accomplices” immediately after this against members of the People’s Alliance, the AK Party and the MHP has nothing to do with political courtesy or political understanding. So when you came to the AK Party headquarters, did you come to the Crime Center?
– I am not saying that he should not oppose. Of course he will. Is there not a single word of criticism other than this? What do you mean by accomplices, who committed what crimes? We, as the AK Party and the People’s Alliance, have pursued policies within the framework of our own political platform and principles. We have achieved these within the legitimate sphere of politics, within the bounds of the law.
