COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – KBTX has partnered with the Brazos Valley Food Bank during the month of June to help end summer hunger. Aggieland Outfitters has partnered with KBTX as a donation location. The retailer allows customers to purchase a $12 canned food donation or drop off food at one of three locations.
Blake Bodine, marketing director for Aggieland Outfitters, said they raised more donations this year than last.
“I think it’s important to be involved in the summer hunger drive across the Brazos Valley just hearing how many people are hungry every night, and now we have an opportunity for those families to come and actually have a hot meal,” Bodine said.
With school out for the summer, many children around the Brazos Valley don’t know where their next meal will come from, so Bodine said it’s nice to see the donations coming in.
“When I see people coming into the store and buying $12 cans of food or dropping off food elsewhere, it gives me peace of mind that no family will go hungry,” Bodine said.
The other four locations participating in the food drive are George’s Paint & Body, Paradowski Law, Producers Cooperative and Douglass Auto Group. All five sponsors will be accepting donations for the remainder of June.
