Police raids were launched in the city of Hakkari, which DEM won on March 31. The city’s co-mayor, Mehmet Suduk Nakit, was detained and a city administrator was appointed. In response, DEM announced that it had decided to launch “constant vigilance actions” to “protect democracy, the will of the people, and local government.”
This is the first appointment to the board since the election on March 31st.
Co-chair Flo was reported to have been detained in Van.
Hakkari police also sealed off the city’s municipal office building late Sunday and searched the premises.
The Interior Ministry statement laid out the accusations against Flo under three different headings regarding his alleged PKK membership.
Stream is accused of “collecting taxes on the organization’s behalf, extorting merchants on the PKK’s behalf, meeting with PKK officials and holding high-level positions within its organizational structure.”
An Interior Ministry statement said Hakkari provincial governor Ali Çelik had been appointed to replace Flo, who was “dismissed in an interim measure.”
The ruling also noted that a PKK affiliation case against Siddiq Stream has been ongoing since 2014.
The DEM Party reminds that there is no final court decision on Flow.
An initial statement from the DEM party said it “calls on all supporters of democracy to take an open stance against this coup.”

Kotzit said he believes the “new constitution and normalization” does not cover them.
The DEM Party also decided to launch “vigilant action” following the trustees’ decision.
Governor Hakkari announced a 10-day ban on demonstrations and marches in the city.
Parties are also banned from gathering around the city of Hakkari.
In the elections held on March 31, 2024, the DEM Party candidate came in first place with 48.92% of the votes.
