In Düzce, three middle school students cornered UC, a 13-year-old eighth-grader at the same school, in a bathroom. MU slapped UC and told him, “If you write to Hasan’s girlfriend again, apologize.” Volkan C, a father of UC, said, “There was a fight between our kids, and we didn’t want to get involved in this issue. The teachers at the school are too scared to intervene anymore. We complain and they say, ‘They’re scum, and we’re tired of them.’ My child is not safe,” he said.
The incident happened yesterday at Azmi Miri Secondary School in Azmi Miri district. Eighth-grade students MU, CB and KY cornered UC, who attends the same school, in the school toilets. MU slapped UC and told him to “apologise if you write to Hasan’s girlfriend again”.
MU’s friends CB and KY recorded the moment on their mobile phones. After the incident, images of the assault were circulated among friends at school. After the images emerged, the school administration reported the situation to the state’s Directorate General of National Education and the police. A decision was made to suspend the three children, and the police opened a criminal investigation.
A UC father, Volkan C., has filed charges against three of his children for hitting his son. Volkan C. said his son was not safe at school and said, “Yesterday they beat my child in this school. They have been beating him for a month. There was a fight between them and I did not want to get involved in this matter.” However, this incident has been happening for a month and I saw it was videotaped yesterday as well.
He put my child in the bathroom, there is a video. The teachers at the school are too scared to intervene anymore. We complain and they say ‘they are scum and we are fed up with them’. My child is not safe. “I will seek cooperation from all authorities on this issue,” he said.
