In an accident on the TAG Expressway in Mersin, a passenger bus veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a truck and two passenger cars, with the death toll rising to 11. The accident occurred on May 26 at around 19:00 on the Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep (TAG) highway in the Yenice district. A passenger bus with plate number 34 SD 88 21, owned by Star Diyarbakir, traveling between Diyarbakir and Istanbul, broke through an iron fence and veered into the oncoming lane as a result of the driver Ali Güler losing control. Wheels. The bus, which was heading to Adana, collided with cars with license plates 01 DT 341 and 01 ALU 521 and a truck with license plate 27 TD 342, the identity of the driver of which is unknown.

The death toll from the tragic accident has risen to 11. Mehmet Orhan Taymen, the husband of Ayla Çelik Taymen, who lost her life in the accident, could not be saved despite all interventions at Mersin City Hospital where she was treated. It was learned that Taymen’s body was buried at the Adana Asli Cemetery after formalities.

The driver, Ali Güler, who sustained minor injuries in the accident, was treated and then detained. Güler was arrested after procedures at the Tarsus District Gendarmerie Headquarters and sent to prison, and his statement was also made public. In a statement, Ali Güler said he deeply regrets the accident, saying, “After leaving the toll booth, I overtook a car. The weather was very rainy. The ground was wet, so I lost control. I am very sorry.”
The agricultural engineer who died in the accident has been buried.
