The number of arrests in Ilic’s area has risen to 13, but search and rescue efforts for the five workers buried underground continue unabated.
Expert report completed
An expert report has been completed on the landslide that occurred on February 13 at a gold mining site in Erzincan’s Ilic district, burying nine workers underground.
The 260-page expert report, completed and submitted to the investigation file, found a further 32 people to be at fault – 23 of whom were found to be negligent, of which 9 were found to be negligent, according to the report – including seven foreign nationals who were senior managers at the company.
The report said it concluded that the project management mechanism was not maintained properly and functionally and that warning systems in mining areas were inadequate.
The bodies of four of the nine workers who went missing after a landslide occurred at a gold mine in Ilic district, Erzincan province on February 13 have been found.
