The dismembered body of a man was found in two separate trash bins in Istanbul’s Pendik district. Among the debris found was one leg containing platinum, and his torso was found to have been cut into 16 pieces. Police investigations continued at the scene, but the body was identified as that of 79-year-old Nihat Salih.
In the incident that occurred in Pendik Demulpinar district, a citizen who went to throw out his trash in the morning witnessed a dismembered body in a trash can. He immediately reported the situation to a police team. In response to the report, multiple police teams were dispatched to the scene. The police team launched an extensive investigation at the scene and determined that the body was that of a man named Nihat Salih, who had been cut into pieces and dumped into multiple trash cans. Meanwhile, his daughter, who rushed to the scene after receiving the news, broke down in tears.
A national named Salih Burmese said, “I don’t know exactly what happened. I was going to the market and saw police and civilians at the entrance. They said there was a body. My friends say there was a dismembered body in the market. It was in the garbage behind the two roads. We’re currently investigating.”
A citizen who gave his name as Kahit Atam said: “They dumped the body downstairs and the police came. They tore it into pieces and threw it here. Now they are looking for the body, sifting through the garbage.”
Blood-curdling details: Divided into 16 parts
The details that emerged were horrifying: Upon examination of the container, heads and other body parts were recovered.
A preliminary autopsy and forensic studies conducted at the forensic laboratory revealed that his scalp had been removed, both legs had been severed from his torso, and he also had cuts at his knees and ankles. Among the debris found was one leg containing platinum, and his torso was found to have been cut into 16 pieces. The Public Safety Bureau Homicide Team is continuing to work on the case.
