Hesperia’s Civic Plaza Park is where vendors set up colorful canopies, trailers and food trucks at the Community Farmers Market every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
When it comes to food, be prepared to learn something whether you’re a seasoned foodie or just starting out.
Food vendors are happy to answer questions, and most offer samples that you can try before you buy.
There’s always a new food and drink experience for everyone, and here are two vendors that prove our point.
Microfarm
Jenna and Gregory Anton are passionate about small-scale (or “micro”) farming, and they grow 12 varieties of microgreens, edible plants that provide more nutrition than regular sprouts.
A quick computer search on microgreens reveals that they are the germ layer, or the first leaves that sprout from the seed, and store the nutrients the plant needs for its subsequent growth.
This means a healthier and more nutritious addition to your diet.
In a microfarm, vegetables are planted densely on flat surfaces and grown in small greenhouses. It takes between 5 and 25 days for the vegetables to be ready to use.
They come freshly cut from the flat and packed in plastic clamshells and will keep in the fridge with a damp paper towel for about a week, or you can buy whole flats to take home.
Microgreens can be incorporated into salads, sandwiches, and even juice and tea recipes.
Once the containers are nearly “harvested,” pop them into the garden to continue growing.
On the day I interviewed Jenna, the microfarm’s vegetables included arugula, watercress, radishes, broccoli, and Chinese cabbage. Selections change weekly.

Millionaire’s Coffee Company
The clever packaging and delicious roasted coffee will catch the eye of coffee lovers who want to know all about the delicious drinks sold by The Millionaire’s Coffee Co. and the 100% handcrafted Colombian coffee provided by Nelsie Johanna and Manuel, Laura and Esther Lozada.
Making their first appearance at the Farmers Market in December 2023, this friendly group is originally from Colombia and will tell you all about the Arabica products they sell, and they’ll even offer tastings of their freshly brewed coffee.
Arabica beans grow at high altitudes and are believed to be the first type of coffee cultivated. This coffee is considered to have a more delicate flavor and is the best-selling type of coffee due to its delicate yet unique taste. It has a lower caffeine content, so it is less bitter but still gives you the energy you need when you need it.
Millionaire’s Coffee Company beans are grown on small coffee farms, harvested when they are similar in shape and size, hand-picked, sun-dried, and shipped to California via the U.S. Postal Service – they couldn’t get any fresher.
The seller calls it “the richest, most distinctive coffee for the senses.”
They sell coffee beans, ground coffee, and K-cups: half-pound bags are $14 per bag and make 20 cups of coffee.
Nelsey and Rosado are offering gift sets that include a French press coffee maker and coffee for $25, as well as baskets filled with fun items.
Nelsie’s mother, who shares her daughter’s name, often bakes homemade mini cupcakes to go with coffee, especially banana with chocolate chips.
