At Yenice on the TAG highway, a passenger bus veered into the oncoming lane and collided with two cars and a truck.
Following the call, numerous 112 emergency medical teams, police and fire brigade units were dispatched to the area.
Initial investigations suggest 10 people were killed and 39 injured in the accident.

Interior Minister Ali Erikaya issued a statement regarding the accident.
“A passenger bus traveling from Diyarbakir to Istanbul collided with two cars and a truck on the highway in Yenice district, Tarsus county, Mersin province. Initial investigation results show that unfortunately 10 citizens lost their lives and one truck was killed,” Yerlikaya said. 39 of our citizens were injured in the accident. “May God bless those who lost their lives in the accident,” he said. “I pray for God’s mercy and patience for the families and a speedy recovery for the injured.”
Mersin Province Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan said the tragic accident had occurred in the city, adding: “According to the initial investigation results, 10 people lost their lives in the accident on the TAG highway. I pray for God’s mercy on those who lost their lives and for the recovery of those injured.”
Three prosecutors were appointed
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunci shared a post about the accident on his social media accounts.
“The chain reaction traffic accident that occurred on the TAG highway in the Yenice district of the Tarsus district of Mersin deeply saddens us all. A judicial investigation into this accident has been launched by the Tarsus Chief Prosecutor’s Office and three prosecutors have been appointed under the coordination of the Prosecutor,” said the Tarsus Chief Prosecutor.
“We pray for God’s mercy on our citizens who lost their lives in the accident, patience for their families and a speedy recovery for our injured citizens.”

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives in the traffic accident in Mersin.
