LEXINGTON, Ky. – The North Carolina State University women’s track and field team has completed competition at the 2024 NCAA Eastern Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Kentucky, with three more athletes qualifying for next month’s outdoor championships.
Senior Sam Bush was the first of the pack to punch her ticket to the championships on Saturday, when she finished ninth overall and fifth in the preliminaries in the 1,500-meter race in a new personal best of 4:09.11, earning an automatic berth in the championships in Eugene.
Busch then set a new personal best of 15:32.95 in the 5,000 meters to finish fifth overall and book her ticket to Eugene, where she was one of two from the pack to qualify for two events at the championships.
Grace Hartman also placed ninth overall in a personal best time of 15:43.13, earning an automatic berth in the 5,000-meter championships, the sophomore’s second time competing in the event, and also qualified for the 10,000.
Freshman Angelina Napoleon recorded the second-best time in program history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:54.08. She finished fourth overall on Saturday and will compete in Eugene next month.
The Pack finished the Eastern Regional tournament with five players — Sam Bush, Grace Hartman, Amaris Tyhnisma, Angelina Napoleon and Brett Gardner — automatically qualifying for Eugene next month.
