One of the team captains, Mert Hakan Yandas, assessed the away game against Galatasaray, played with 10 men, on Fenerbahçe TV and had this to say about what happened:
From the beginning to the end of the match, we deserved to win.
“First of all, I’m proud of our team. This was a match that we played for our honor, our pride and the honor of our community. We had to win this match to account for what we’ve done all season. We were aware. “Luckily, it was a match that started with a scenario, it was 11 vs 11. We were much better, but the opponents didn’t reach our goal. It made us a little anxious. We were down to 10 men, but they had incredible spirit and tactical discipline. My teammates won a well-deserved victory from start to finish. Now they can go to the theater and continue.
An incredible organization, but one Fenerbahi emblem was enough.
The atmosphere at a derby is tense and fun at the same time. I knew there would be a tense atmosphere there. I didn’t plan it, but when they started swearing at me as they walked out, I showed them our immaculate, honorable, dignified, proud coat of arms. Enough is enough. Everyone has been talking about it ever since. What did I do? Did I make a gesture or did a bad word come out of my mouth? No. I also answered the question after the match. They are incredibly organized, but one Fenerbahçe coat of arms was enough for everyone.
We fought for honor and pride
Maybe it’s a bit of an exaggeration, but I think this is one of the most distinctive groups of players in the history of Fenerbahçe. It seems to me so. Of course, our elders will assess this more accurately, but we have a really great group of players here. From the beginning of the season until today. We have a team that reacted incredibly and remained united despite what we went through that day. We have a community that never has a single day of trouble. I don’t know how to explain this. We have a great group of foreign players. I am so honored and happy that they embraced me like this. It is very important that they recognize everything and embrace the community in the same way as the Turkish players. This year we have achieved this incredibly. We have great characters and great actors. No matter who is absent, we have always remained a responsive community, a responsive group of players throughout the season. For us, it doesn’t matter who plays and who doesn’t play. Everyone goes out and works hard. That day we fought for honor and pride.
It was the joy of the alliance we had broken.
First of all, I want to thank all the fans who came to the away game. I heard them every second on the field. There was not a moment when I did not hear them. They created a great environment and atmosphere. It was like playing at home. I would even say it was better than the games we played at home. I really appreciate them. Our community recognizes everything. He recognizes how personable and sincere the players in his group are. It was actually a celebration and a joy of this. It was a joy of the alliance that we broke. That’s why I’m infinitely grateful to them. They welcomed us incredibly. Thank you, I’m glad they existed.
(Celebrating in the stands after the game) Thank you, they sang a great song. They came there and worked very hard. Of course, they have the right to enjoy it too.”
