AKP statement on ‘stray animals’: ‘We listened to society’
AKP Group Vice Chairman Yenişehirlioğlu continued:
“The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Interior, Health and Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change are conducting detailed studies on this issue. What I am doing here is to meet with government officials, NGOs, journalists, academics, victims of this issue, parliamentarians who are sensitive to this issue and people from all walks of life, to listen to their opinions, to take note of what they say and draw conclusions from it. My work is in this direction, to conduct these studies, to report on the information received from all stakeholders and finally to submit the document to Parliament once it has been prepared.”
“We intend to carry out these studies for about 15 days. The bill will most likely be submitted to the president before parliament closes,” Yenişehirlioğlu said, noting that the bill will be evaluated by the committee and then submitted for approval by parliament members in the general assembly.
A meeting with the group leader will be held
Yenişehirıoğlu said he intends to listen to the opinions of opposition lawmakers and get their proposals for a solution, adding that AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler will meet with group leaders of other parties to seek the determination of lawmakers who are sensitive to the issue, and will also hold the next meeting with these determined names.
“We listened to the community.”
Yenişehirlioğlu said he would manage the work of the parliament and that “we have listened to society’s voices without creating wounds, divisions, disruptions or creating hostility from this. Our goal is to reach common ground, to reach an agreement. A solution that is acceptable to everyone,” was his assessment.
