BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County residents will be cooking up menudo and pozole this weekend for a chance to win prizes at the Latino Food Festival at the Kern County Fairgrounds.
On May 26, the 24th Annual Latin Food Festival, Menudo & Pozole Cook-Off, will be held at the Kern County Fairgrounds for a day of family fun. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the fairgrounds are filled with people enjoying musical performances, various food stalls, and a posole/menudo cooking contest.
BPD identified the man found dead inside a vehicle near 7th Standard Road as a senior KCSO deputy.
Michael Salgado, The Zap Band and Lighter Shade of Brown are scheduled to perform at the festival.
The event will also feature performances by La Sonora Dinamita and Ballet Folklórico Huastecali, and organizers say there will be a booth-decorating contest and a kids’ camp for kids. (Unless you can stand the heat, you might want to keep the kids away from the jalapeño-eating contest.)
Advance tickets for the Food Festival can be purchased on this website or at the locations below.
La Mina Cantina (4001 Auburn St. and 8020 District Boulevard), Casa Quintana Mexican Grill (2104 O St.), KCHCC Office (1601 H Street #201), Buena Vida Tapas and Lounge (2500 New Stine Road) and CM Enterprises in Delano (1208 Main St.).
