In Week 37 of the Trendior Super League, Fenerbahce defeated Galatasaray 1-0 away.
After the game, the president of the yellow and navy blue team, Ali Koç, came to Rams Park and tried to take to the field to celebrate with the board members and players, but tensions rose again and an incident broke out on the field.
The Governor of Istanbul used the following statement in his statement regarding this event:
“It has been observed that speculative publications were made in various media regarding the events that occurred during the match between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, which took place on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 19:00.
The events that took place after the match between two prominent clubs of our country unfolded as follows.
All security measures for the Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce football match will be taken by the Istanbul Police Department or in conjunction with private security forces.
Approximately 51,000 spectators for the home team and 2,318 spectators for the visiting team were in the stands during the game.
During the tournament, action was taken against a total of 35 people who did not comply with Law No. 6222 (throwing of foreign objects, illegal entry of spectators, excessive behavior, chants containing threats or insults).
After the match, internal security measures in place inside the stadium were discontinued at the direction of the head of competition security.
Fenerbahce club president Ali Koç came to the stadium at 22:10, 70 minutes after the end of the match, and after congratulating the players in the locker room, he was about to leave the stadium when suddenly… I changed my mind and entered the stadium. He bypassed the special security guards guarding the stadium and moved onto the field with his accompanying delegation.
The delegation accompanying the Fenerbahce club president unfurled the flag after entering the field and tried to take a photo, but Galatasaray club stadium manager A.Ç., who tried to prevent this, intervened.
After the incident, police in charge of providing security for the Fenerbahçe football team entered the field and intervened.
After the on-field events ended, the Fenerbahçe team left the stadium at 22:52.
After the match, following instructions from the media and the sports prosecutor’s office, legal proceedings were launched against five people who attempted to assault stadium manager A.C.
Efforts continue to identify individuals found to have been involved in the incident inside the stadium.
Administrative and judicial investigations launched into the matter continue, and investigations have also been launched against negligent officials.
The judicial investigation is being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office. ”
