A taste of Vietnamese culture is coming to Westchester County.
Hungry customers can pull up a chair at Saigon Table at 12 Purdy Avenue in Lai this week.
It was a labor of love that took months to create.
The new eatery has been preparing for its soft launch on Tuesday, and the restaurant has been buzzing with customers for days before its official opening, with customers arriving to check out the city’s newest restaurant.
Built by Rye native Andy Versio, the restaurant brings food to Saigon, Vietnam.
Rye resident and owner Lin Li says she draws inspiration from her native Southeast Asian city. This is evident in the light brown bamboo, woven lamps, colorful LED lights, TV displays, and food on the menu.
Fast-casual restaurants aim to offer a healthy menu.
Cook fresh herbs and vegetables to create traditional dishes like pho, Vietnamese egg rolls, vermicelli, and tamarind pork ribs.
“They’re very particular about making everything from scratch, so all the sauces are homemade and everything is made from scratch,” said owner Lin Lee.
“A lot of these are Lynn’s recipes that she brought to us and put a little spin on. They’re very traditional, but elevated a little bit. We’re so excited to be able to share this with you. I’m looking forward to it,” said Chef John Lim.
Behind the counter, a juicer squeezes fresh orange juice and limeade.
Wash down your dishes with wine, beer, cocktails, or sip on Vietnamese coffee.
For those with a sweet tooth, there are also options like pandan chiffon cake.
The grand opening on Thursday, May 23rd begins at 11:30 a.m.
The timely opening also coincides with Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
