Serdar Ekrem
This small cobblestone street near the historic Galata Tower is probably one of Istanbul’s coolest shopping streets. There are no big name brands here. Instead, there are lots of cool boutiques. Check out Turkish designer Arzu Kaprol’s showroom, antique Kashif sofas, and finally, the elegant boutique Atelier 55. Afterwards, take a seat at Mavra and enjoy your coffee and his delicious homemade chocolate cake. If you’re strolling around during cocktail hour, stop by George’s Hotel Galata’s terrace and enjoy a refreshing drink with stunning views of the city.
Chukurukuma Kadesh
Çukurjuma is Istanbul’s main antique-hunting street, and the beautiful neoclassical houses surrounding this district lend themselves very well to the overall nostalgic theme. Walk along the winding streets and visit antique and vintage boutiques and the Innocence Museum, a huge showcase of Istanbul’s unforgotten past. Recommended restaurants in the area include A La Turca, Objects of Desire, and Aslı Günşiray. After you’ve finished exploring and shopping, grab a bite to eat at Cuma. Pancakes are delicious.
Istiklal Kadesh
Istiklal Street, which stretches from Taksim Square to Tunel Square, is one of the city’s main shopping streets and is always busy. Every conceivable brand has a store here, from local brands to global brands. Istiklal also has unique side streets and small passages (arcades), so if you find something that interests you, be sure to take a detour. After doing some serious grocery shopping at Beyoglu Balikpazar (open-air market), stroll through Cicek Passage, the famous arcade just next door that opened in 1876. If you’re tired of walking, check out the historic shopping mall. Red tram running up and down the street.
Abdi Ipekci Kadesh
The Nişantaş district is known for its upscale neighborhoods, including the ateliers and showrooms of local designers and the boutiques of world-famous brands. At Abdiİpekçi Caddesi, discover everything from Prada to Louis Vuitton to Turkey’s finest luxury brands Vacco and Beymen. If you want to be a little more conscious about what’s in your wallet, take a short detour and walk to Teşvikiye Caddesi for more affordable stores like Zara, Massimo Dutti, and Scotch & Soda. The nearby shopping center City’s Nişantaşı has even more stores, including imported goods Banana Republic and Gap.
Baddat Kadesh
The Asian side of Istanbul is known for being a more residential and quieter area than the European side, but there are certainly enough shopping opportunities to make you want to take the ferry. Bağdat Caddesi is the main shopping street on this side, with something for every budget, from Burberry to Marks & Spencer. On weekends, this lane is filled with residents strolling around and taking a break at one of the many cafes. Another benefit is that the beach is just a few blocks away, and you can always take a walk along the water after you’re done shopping.
