“We’re not predicting desert heat.”
Regarding claims of the coming of Eyyam-i-Bahr fever, Tekin said:
“In Turkish culture, there are several words used by our people regarding weather forecasts, such as Cemre rains, 40 rains, and Pastrami heat, which are based on years of observation. Eyam-i-Bahr is also called African desert heat. However, as mentioned earlier, scorching heat will continue in our country throughout this week. “Desert temperatures are not expected. Heat waves are not expected. On the contrary, temperatures will be below seasonal norms in inland areas. In our country, the Black Sea region, and Eastern Anatolia, some areas will exceed seasonal norms.”
9
Tekin said temperatures could exceed 40 degrees along the eastern Mediterranean coast and around Diyarbakir, Şanlıurfa, Mardin, Gaziantep and Adana in southeastern Anatolia, but no increase above seasonal standards was expected. “Temperatures will be below seasonal standards across the country,” he said.
