Işık, who had been receiving treatment at the Schmieder Rehabilitation Center in Germany for some time, passed away this morning at Istanbul Baskent University Hospital.
Regarding Işık’s death, the Film Industry and All Artists Empowerment Foundation (Filmsan) released a statement on social media saying, “May God have mercy on Turkish theater, TV series and film actor Kenan Işık. We offer our condolences to his family and loved ones.” He also included his own statement.
Ozan Zeybek, one of the artist’s close friends, also announced his death on his Instagram account, sharing a photo with Kenan Işık.
Actor Ari Sunal also shared, “Kenan hyung, I couldn’t thank you enough. It was great meeting you, sharing my worries, joking with you, and sharing scenes with you. Rest in peace,” he shared.
Ishq will embark on its final journey on July 31.
The Kenan Işik ceremony will be held tomorrow at the Istanbul Ataturk Cultural Center (AKM).
Kenan Işık’s body will be buried at the Karşyaka Cemetery on Wednesday, July 31, after the midday prayer at the Ankara Ahmet Hamdi Aşeki Mosque.
About Kenan Ishq
His full name is Yusuf Kenan İşik and he was born in Malatya on October 1, 1947. İşik began acting in school theaters during his secondary education and entered Meydan Sahanesi in Ankara for his high school education.
Işık began his studies at the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Gazi University, but he never left the theater scene during his student days and became an artist of the State Theater in 1972.
In addition to being a theatre actor, Mastername also worked as the general artistic director and scriptwriter of the City Theatre and participated in various television series.
Kenan Ishq, who also worked as a journalist for a while, won the admiration of viewers in the competition program “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Ten years ago, Ishq fell ill, lost his balance, hit his head on the ground and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage.

Message of condolence from Minister of Culture and Tourism Ersoy to artist Kenan Isyk
Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, in a statement on his social media accounts, said Işık was one of the giants of Turkish theatre and television and that he learned of his death with deep sadness.
Highlighting that Ishq had won the hearts of everyone with his art, knowledge and fine attitude, Ersoy said:
“Kenan İşik made a great contribution to Turkey’s cultural life. Having worked for many years as an actor and director at the State Theatre, İşik’s works and performances will serve as a guide for future generations. May God have mercy on those who have passed away. We offer our condolences to his family, loved ones and the entire artistic community.”
Minister Ersoy called Beryl Işık and expressed his condolences for the death of her husband, artist Kenan Işık.
Ersoy said they are with Isyk’s family and are ready to provide any kind of assistance.
