Even more true – the Republican People’s Party (CHP) is preparing to take action against local governments weighed down by Social Security System (SGK) debts. Questioning why they had not asked for the debt before, a CHP staff member said: “Obstacles have been created since the 2019 local elections. Resources have decreased and revenue cuts have increased. “Now they want to create the perception that ‘we cannot serve.'” The CHP said it would work on revenue-raising measures by holding meetings with mayors.
“See you in Burdur.”
According to Cumhuriyet news, CHP officials said they would discuss revenue-raising measures at a meeting they will hold with mayors within the next few days. “Mayors of our province will meet in Burdur from August 1-3 with the participation of the chairman. The main agenda of the meeting was the reflection of meat and milk prices on consumers and issues in the sector, but we will also evaluate the latest developments. “We have encountered obstacles in the past, but our service continued,” they said.
“A place given to the Foundation”
CHP officials said they would take emergency measures for sites that belong to municipalities and are being used free of charge. “The sites we have just taken over have shops and land that were given free of charge to foundations and supporters in previous periods. We will eliminate these physical occupations. For example, they handed over buildings to foundations, which built dormitories there and housed shops, but no rent was paid. “We will ensure that these sites are reclaimed and that income is returned,” they said.
“Evil against people”
CHP officials explained why the debt had not been demanded until now: “Since the 2019 local elections, the debt has created various obstacles. They cut resources and increased revenue cuts. Now they want to do the same and create the perception that ‘we cannot serve.’ There is a serious economic crisis and CHP municipalities provide social assistance in addition to their own obligations. The government is blocking these services with a partisan attitude. That’s why they want the SSI debt, which they did not receive for years under the administration. “That’s why they are harming people,” they said. (News Center)
