PM Ozgür Ozer’s response to President Erdogan on SSI premium debt: “We will neither pay nor refuse for now”
During his visit to Harmancuk district and Mayor Hashim Ali Arikan’s office, Ezer addressed residents waiting in front of the city hall.
Ezell said they had been very successful in the local elections, noting that they were elected with very high voter turnout in many constituencies.
“They said, ‘Don’t vote for the CHP, when they come they will silence the adhan and take down the flag.’ We held the elections a year later,” Ezer said, saying his party won one of two votes in Bursa. The CHP won one of two votes in Bursa, “and the party won 38 percent of the vote, becoming the largest party in Turkey.”
“We don’t fight about identity.”
“Some people want to fight, of course we will fight, but we are not going to fight Tayyip or Debret just because that’s what they want,” Ezer said, referring to AKP’s President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan and MHP leader Debret Bahceli. “We are not fighting over identity. Our fight with them is minimal,” he said. “It’s a wage fight, a peasant fight.”
Reviewing the survey results, Ezeru said the party “widened its lead in each of the three surveys each month and maintained its position as the number one party.”
“The Republican People’s Party government is coming. We are not here to fight, we are here to make the people smile and bring wealth,” Ezell said, adding that the party that yesterday said it would “take down the flag” is the party that is best protecting the country’s interests today.
Ezell continued:
“Everyone should know that the Republican People’s Party has no problem with the mosque, does not interfere with the faith of the people in the mosque, and has no problem with the beliefs and worship of the Alevis. Both the Cemevi and the mosques are our greatest glory, everyone who believes in every belief, every belief, we love this whole country, regardless of political views, ethnic origin or sect.”
“Harmanchik is very important psychologically.”
Özel congratulated Harmancuk Mayor Hasim Ali Arikan and Harmancuk CHP District Chairman Ahmet Tufan on their success in the local elections, saying, “Mayor Hasim, the success of Harmancuk in this election is one of the great successes in Bursa. If you look at the population, Harmancuk with a population of 6,300 is the smallest district in Bursa, but this is a process that overturns the long-held belief that ‘the CHP cannot occupy four mountain districts.’ You have been politically active with President Ahmet for many years and worked as his district chairman. ‘We congratulate you and the elected city council members from all political parties on the success of this process, which has been worked on together under your term as mayor,’ he said.
“We are excavating certain works in Harmanchuk, we are leaving traces. The government other than us has, so to speak, kept Harmanchuk stagnant,” Ezer said, adding that “it is time for Harmanchuk to soar again.”
“Hopefully those four will be eliminated in the next election.”
Ozer said this follows an increase in bank promotions for Harmancuk city employees from 7,000 to 17,000 liras. “Female employees who travel long distances from Harmancuk and take shuttles to their distant workplaces have problems. This time, they are making efforts in this regard as well. Harmancuk city. The powers of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality that we have won for the first time in 47 years will make our presidency even more valuable and important. In the future, other mountain districts will see how much the CHP has contributed. We hope for fourth place,” he said.
“The Chemevi and the mosque are ours.”
“Yesterday, during Friday prayers, we hugged and greeted half the congregation of the Grand Mosque. They took pictures and were very happy. Everyone should know that the Republican People’s Party has no problem with the mosque and does not interfere with it. We have no problem with the faith of the people of the mosque, nor with the Alevi faith and worship. ” “The Cemevi and the mosque are ours, and everyone who believes in any belief is our love. This is the whole country, regardless of political views, ethnic origin or sect.”
Ezer said the CHP is a political party run by honest, hardworking people, and added, “Mayors elected by the Republican People’s Party think about their hometowns, states and districts, not about themselves or their relatives. The services provided here will make people say, ‘I’m glad I elected a Republican mayor,’ and ‘I’m glad this big city is from the CHP.'” “We need to contribute to other districts as well,” he said.
Reaction to President Erdogan’s statement on SSI debt
After his visit to Harmanchuk, Ezer travelled to Gemlik, where he drew attention to the transformation of the city and addressed AKP President Tayyip Erdogan.
“Do not deny the loans that local governments receive from abroad, the World Bank and financial companies especially for urban transformation,” Ezell said, adding, “Do not be heartless. Do not be partisan. Stand with the people, not against the state. Stand with the people.”
Regarding the municipal debt, Ezell said, “We’re not going to pay it or refuse to pay it right now because almost all of this debt was incurred by the municipality.”
Ezell continued his speech:
“We already have the demographic and economic majority in these municipalities. These figures include the unpaid SSI premiums that all municipalities received from the AK Party.
The 660 billion yen debt of the 43 companies in the five-person group has been wiped out, and local governments are left with 96 billion yen in debt. For now, we will neither pay it nor refuse to pay it, because your people are bearing almost all of this debt. There is past debt.
You will be introducing that law to Congress. You will abolish their interest, split the principal, and treat everyone equally. You can’t make us pay for what you eat and drink. We will put a lien on it and the public will see who is interfering with the service. I was going to get into politics by saying I’m going to take my trash home.
Look, Tayyip Erdogan, don’t even try this. If necessary, we will collect the garbage with the hands of our chairman, deputies and 1.6 million CHP members. We are not going to depend on you.
Indigestion is not right. President Erdogan is trying to stage a financial coup. We will never, ever surrender. What he is doing is not serving. “Just like in Istanbul, democracy will be smashed.”
