ROANOKE, W.Va. (WBOY) — Mountaineer Food Bank held its fifth annual Tee to Table Golf Tournament at Stonewall Resort on Friday to raise funds for food programs and network agencies throughout its 48-county service area.
By the time the event began in the morning, $35,000 had already been raised by the 18 participating teams. About 70 people had the chance to try their hand at golf on the expansive course.

According to the Mountaineer Food Bank, more than 260,000 people in the state are food insecure, including one in five children.
“Every day we’re doing everything we can to provide emergency food, or just to assist or connect people with other resources, that’s one of our goals, making sure our neighbors here in West Virginia have access to food so that everyone has a right to eat and no one has to go to bed hungry,” said Becky Conrad, spokesperson and Tea to Table coordinator for Mountaineer Food Bank Foundation.
Thanks to sponsors, there were cash prizes available for the teams: $1,500 for first place, $1,250 for second place, $1,000 for third place, and $10,000 for anyone who got a hole-in-one on a particular hole.
