About the Speaker: Matt Koss founded Primal Pet Foods in 2001 with a mission: to improve the overall health and well-being of pets through species-appropriate nutrition. Starting his career as a chef in San Francisco, Matt found a way to apply his culinary expertise to the pet industry. When his beloved dog Luna began experiencing health issues, he followed the advice of a holistic veterinarian and began cooking meals for Luna in his own kitchen at home. Matt saw an immediate improvement in Luna’s health and was determined to share his solution with other pet owners. Over the past 20 years, Primal has become a leader in raw and freeze-dried pet foods, and Matt has continued to innovate and introduce new products to make raw nutrition more accessible and convenient for pets and their owners.
Dr. James Templeman is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Guelph and Director of Nutrition and Formulation at Primal Pet Foods. He has conducted extensive research in animal nutrition and metabolism, most recently evaluating the practical application of protein quality models in the pet food industry. James has spoken at various academic and industry conferences, including the annual meetings of the American Society of Animal Science, the Canadian Pet Food Association, and the International Symposium on Energy and Protein. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge with others and helping people better understand the role of nutrition in their pets’ lives.
