The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee announced Tuesday that more than 5,000 donors have given a total of $46.3 million between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024 to the UWM Foundation, which supports UWM.
This is the best fundraising year in the university’s history. The previous record was set in 2018 with $38.6 million.
“This generous support from our donors will provide critical resources for our students and faculty, while also enhancing our service to our community,” said UWM Chancellor Mark Mohn. “It reflects the value of our work, and we are grateful for this enduring investment in our mission.”
Major gifts last year included a $20 million gift from the Zilber Family Foundation to support UWM’s Joseph J. Zilber College of Public Health, and the Kohler Trust for Clean Water gave $1.3 million to the UWM Foundation to support the construction of the Maggi Sue, a research vessel for the UWM School of Freshwater Sciences.
In April, UWM held its fourth annual UWM Giving Days, raising more than $1.3 million from 2,001 donors.
“Every gift to the UWM Foundation makes a difference,” said Joan Nesbitt, UWM vice president for University Advancement, “and each gift speaks to the donor’s values and interests. Donors are helping make UWM history, but even more than the total amount raised, their support of student dreams is inspiring and life-changing.”
