Teams from AFAD, UMKE, the Fire Service, the Gendarmerie, TPIC and a team of TPAO experts were dispatched to the scene.
As a result of the team’s work, two injured workers were rescued from among three people trapped under the rubble.
One of the injured workers was taken to hospital by helicopter, while the other was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Governor Cevdet Atay also followed rescue efforts at the scene.
“An investigation into the incident has been launched.”
In a written statement made by the governor, it was reported that the industrial accident occurred due to the collapse of the concrete floor of an operating drilling rig in the ŞAY oil field of Turkish Petroleum Corporation’s Şırnak Regional Directorate.
The statement said that excavator Furkan Tatar, who was trapped under the rubble of the towers, was rescued immediately after the accident and taken to hospital by helicopter, while one other worker who survived the accident with minor injuries was sent to Cizre. An engineer lost his life at the regional hospital.
The statement pointed out:
“An investigation into the incident has been launched. We pray for God’s mercy on the deceased engineer, patience and condolences for his family, and a speedy recovery for the injured.”
