An ongoing lawsuit arising from a border dispute between the villages of Alaklıkı in the Afrat district of Bitlis and Aru in the Branik district of Muş has been concluded, resulting in a change in the border between the two districts. Residents of Alaklıkı village in Afrat brought the matter to court two years ago, claiming that part of their pasture land had been transferred to the village of Aru in Branik.
Muhammed Akif Kocak, a lawyer for the villagers of Alaklı village, told reporters that the border of Akhlat has been expanded following the settlement of a border dispute lawsuit between the two villages. Kocak explained that he filed the lawsuit two years ago at the request of the villagers, saying, “We filed a lawsuit to change the village’s border. The lawsuit lasted about two years. We conducted an investigation in cooperation with the court committee and the court.” As a result of this discovery, witnesses were examined, and the court added it to its announcement, making the “verdict final,” the villagers said.
Stating that with the change in village boundaries, the district boundaries have also been changed, Kocak said:
“As a result, the borders of Ahlat have expanded by 1,270 dekars. We took these borders away from Mus. We conducted good court proceedings. The residents of the villages of Alaklı and Aru respected the decision that was made, trusting in the law and the rule of law. As a result of this decision, both our districts of Ahlat and Bitlis “The borders of the country have expanded and we have achieved good results that bring great benefits to the farmers, especially in the pasture areas.”
Deri Doan, head of Arakli village, said the court’s decision had pleased his villagers, saying: “Two years ago, there was a dispute over the border between Bitlis and Muş. We filed a lawsuit about this location at the Alert Civil Court of First Instance. We won the lawsuit, which lasted for more than two years, and the area was added to the boundaries of Alert,” he said.
