Defense Ministry: Turkiye is the biggest contributor to Syria’s territorial integrity
Ministry officials answered reporters’ questions at a press conference.
In response to a question about the latest status of work with Iraq on the proposed joint operations center, the source said, “The fight against terrorism is going well there. We are working actively and in coordination with the Iraqi authorities. Technical studies on the establishment of the joint operations center are continuing without any problems.”
F-16 purchased from the US
In response to allegations that the purchase of F-16 fighter jets and modernization kits from the United States would be cut, the source said, “The contract has been signed and work on the details is continuing through negotiations between the delegations. Details will be revealed after the decision is made, which will be shared with the public later.”
Relations with Syria
Responding to a question about the latest developments in relations with Syria following Damascus’ latest statement, a ministry official said:
“Our president has expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue. Turkey is in Syria to eliminate terrorist attacks and threats against its territory within the scope of the principle of self-defense, to protect its borders and to prevent the establishment of a terrorist corridor in the north. Turkey is committed to Syria’s territorial integrity. “The operations we have carried out have made a significant contribution to Syria’s territorial integrity. We want to eradicate terrorism and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity in order to restore political stability and allow the Syrian people to live in peace and security.”
