The group’s goal is to keep young people active and engaged and inspire them to pursue higher education.
CONNECTICUT, USA — J Timothy’s Taverne, Martin Rosols and Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria are teaming up to raise money for the Husky Ticket Project, a nonprofit that gives underprivileged youth the opportunity to attend UConn home games for free.
The idea for the fundraiser was born just days after news broke that the Los Angeles Lakers had offered University of Connecticut men’s basketball head coach Dan Hurley a multimillion-dollar contract, after J. Timothy’s Tavern posted on X that they were offering Hurley free wings for life if he stayed with the team.
The post quickly went viral, and Martin Rosol Meats and Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria also offered the same deal. The three restaurants say business boomed in response to the offer, and they’ve been wanting to give back to the University of Connecticut community ever since.
“We’re doing so well that we can’t help ourselves and not help others when we can. Once we got in touch with Husky Ticket Project, it was a no-brainer,” said Reno Ouellet, manager of Jay Timothy’s Tavern.
All proceeds from Thursday night’s fundraiser will benefit the Husky Ticket Project.
“We do our best to support all ticketed events that take place at the University of Connecticut, so obviously our primary tickets are football, men’s and women’s basketball, but we also support hockey, baseball, softball and men’s or women’s soccer,” said Kevin Solomon, co-founder of the Husky Ticket Project.

The group’s goal is to keep young people active and engaged and inspire them to pursue higher education.
“Our motto is to develop the next generation of University of Connecticut fans and inspire them to go to college when they might not be able to, so to have that happen is really awesome for them and for us and we can’t thank our supporters enough,” Solomon said.
The sold-out fundraiser will be packed with food, drinks and opportunities to mingle with UConn notables.
“We have some special guests in attendance tomorrow. The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team will be in attendance. The Queen of Connecticut, Andrea Hurley herself, will be in attendance. There may be some other surprises in store for those in attendance,” Solomon said.
Tickets for Thursday’s fundraiser are already sold out, but anyone who would like to donate to the Husky Ticket Project can do so by visiting the project’s website.
