The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has released its housing sales statistics report for the period ending June 2024.
As a result, the number of home sales in June was 79,313, down 5.2% from the same month last year.
The number of home sales in the first half of the year reached 545,074, down 3.7% from the same period last year.
Credit sales down 49 percent
Mortgaged home sales in June reached 6,813, down 49.4% from a year earlier. Mortgaged home sales made up 8.6% of total home sales. Mortgaged home sales in the first half of the year reached 51,415, down 57.7% from a year earlier.
Decreased 14% in real terms
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has released house price index data for the May 2024 period.
The KPI (2017=100), calculated to monitor quality-adjusted price changes for housing in Turkey, rose 1.3% month-on-month in May to reach 1,273.5.
The KPI in May increased by 45 percent on an annual basis, but the actual decline for the period was 14.9 percent.
Looking at the KPI changes in the three main provinces, an increase of 1.1% was observed in Istanbul, 2.4% in Ankara and 2.6% in Izmir in April compared to the previous month.
The index value increased by 35.3 percent in Istanbul, 53.9 percent in Ankara and 44.2 percent in Izmir compared to the same month last year.
