Hunka Cosmetics
According to Google Trends, searches for “Hunca Kosmetik” have increased 3,500% in the past seven days. This may be related to a recent social media interview with Ada Hunca, daughter of the chairman of Turkish cosmetics giant Hunca Kosmetik. Reporting on people’s monthly budgets in a traveling reporter style, Hunca reported that her own budget is $10,000. When asked what she does for a living, Hunca said nothing and that her father owns a cosmetics company.
The company focuses on hair care and fragrance and currently sells a range of hair waxes with different benefits including shine, strength, natural look, hold, matte look, etc. They also sell several herbal blend shampoos including Rosemary + Oat, Chamomile + Arnica, Pine Nettle, and Wild Pistachio + Cumin.
Steya/Steyya Cosmetics
Searches for “Steya” and “Steya Cosmetics” have increased 2,250% in the past week, according to Google Trends. Steya is a musical artist from Berlin, but as of now, she has not announced a cosmetics line. Steya Cosmetics has just one Instagram post and two stories, one of which simply says “Coming soon.” It’s worth noting that the handle already has 998,000 followers, and it appears that the brand recently filed for a Ukrainian trademark registration for the name. Could a new brand be on the way?

Republic Cosmetics
According to Google Trends, searches for “Republic Cosmetics” have increased 600% in the past 7 days. While there is no specific news associated with this, the manufacturer/retailer features a bestselling butterfly-inspired eyeshadow palette from the Yuyu brand. Named Metamorphosis, the palette matches the colors of several butterflies featured on the packaging. They also feature a Las Vegas-inspired eyeshadow palette, also called the Star Palette. Both have rich pigments with long-lasting effects. The website also features Revlon’s recent addition to the “family,” presumably as a third-party seller.
#Uncanny Valley Makeup
#Uncannyvalley makeup was once again in the top 10 list of Google Trends this week, increasing by 550% according to our sources. We covered this in our previous report, so please refer to our previous report for more details.
Kojic Acid Soap
According to Exploding Topics, interest in kojic acid soap is skyrocketing. Growth in this product type, aimed at skin lightening and treating pigmentation, is being driven by interest in the brand Kojie San. According to sources, searches for the brand have increased by 63% in the past 24 months. The hashtag #kojiesan has over 176 million views on TikTok, likely due to the brand’s monthly sales of $62,000 on Amazon. Kojic acid soap is part of a meta-trend of kojic acid skincare that also includes serums, lotions, and powders.
Silicone Scar Tape
Another product seeing increased interest is silicone scar tape, which is designed to keep wounds tightly closed and allow the skin to heal. The product is specifically engineered to not pull on the skin or cause pain when removed. The trend has grown thanks to social media, with the video garnering more than 3.9 million views on TikTok, according to Exploding Topics.
This is reportedly part of a larger #medicaltok trend that offers viewers at-home medical tips and advice. In fact, according to Forbes, 20% of Americans turn to TikTok for medical information before visiting a doctor, and videos with the hashtag #medicaltiktok have been viewed more than 5 million times to date. Just like the beauty industry, the medical community is hoping to attract more science communicators to the platform.
#BlackChristmasNails
Finally, #blackChristmasnails reached the top of the list, seeing a 15,811% increase in searches week over week, according to Spate’s hashtag tracker. Black-themed holiday nails are also becoming more popular, which can include all-black nails, glittery nails, or nails with Christmas or holiday art on a black background.
