DALLAS, Texas, July 16, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — (NTFB) has announced that BioWorld Foundation has committed a generous donation of $500,000 to deliver 1.5 million meals to hungry North Texas residents over the next five years, including having the BioWorld logo appear on co-branded trucks that transport food throughout the food bank’s vast 10,000-square-mile service area.
NTFB President and CEO Trisha Cunningham emphasized the importance of community support in addressing hunger, saying, “Thanks to partners like BioWorld, we are able to serve approximately 778,000 people in need within our 13-county region,” adding, “We are deeply grateful for BioWorld Foundation’s commitment to creating a brighter future for the children, seniors and families in our region. This support comes at a critical time, with Texas ranking first in the nation for hunger, with approximately 5 million people experiencing food insecurity.”
Raj Malik, founder and CEO of BioWorld, emphasized the company’s longstanding commitment to supporting the community, especially youth development. “BioWorld has always believed in giving back to the community. Our work is focused on supporting students and young people, and hunger relief is a key component of that mission.”
BioWorld’s leadership resonates with NTFB’s Nourish the Future programs that aim to combat child hunger. Notably, the School Pantry program provides shelf-stable and fresh foods to 40 locations across North Texas, and the Food 4 Kids Backpack program provides up to 11,000 chronically hungry children with take-home meals each weekend. In fiscal year 2023 alone, NTFB provided more than 50.2 million meals to children in need.
Beyond their monetary contributions, BioWorld employees also donate their time to volunteer at NTFB’s Perot Family Campus, spending 430 hours since 2022 packing and boxing food.
Malik actively encourages employees to participate in volunteer activities during work hours. “We believe that fostering a culture of community involvement strengthens connections both inside and outside the company,” Malik explains. “This initiative fosters personal growth and a positive environment across the organization.”
