At San Francisco’s wildly popular night market, which drew thousands of people last year, charming Bay Area restaurants will be serving up dishes like roast pork skewers, piping hot beef noodles and stinky tofu.
The Sunset Night Market returns to Irving Street on August 30, more than double its previous size and for multiple nights. New eateries opening on Irving Street this year include Vietnamese restaurant Gao Viet Kitchen, Filipino pop-up Street Sticks and PPQ Beef Noodle House. Other vendors will also be selling food such as tapioca, ceviche and coconut pudding.
This year, event organizers plan to line seven blocks of Irving Street with 150 vendors, most of which will serve food.
“I’m really proud that Sunset Night Market has been a pioneer in San Francisco and shown what’s possible,” Engardio said.
The Sunset Night Market will take place on Irving Street from 19th to 26th Avenues from 5 to 10 pm on August 30 and September 27. There will be multiple stages for live entertainment, a kids’ zone and a stinky tofu eating contest. Celebrity chef Martin Yang, host of the PBS television cooking show “Yan Can Cook,” will open the event on August 30.
There will also be a “beach party edition” of the night market on September 21 from 3pm until sunset at the Great Highway and Taraval Street. According to the Engardio newsletter, the event will have a “heavy emphasis on music, a dance party atmosphere and food and drink.”
