Zuber Realty has launched a successful new food fundraiser that has resulted in an increase in donations delivered to Veterans Making a Difference.
Richard A. Zuber Realty capped off its annual month-long food drive for veterans by delivering 13 percent more non-perishable food and toiletry items than last year to the Veterans Social Center, 645 N. 6th St., Reading, headquarters of the non-profit organization Veterans Making a Difference, which is committed to helping veterans in need in Berks County.
Agent Vanessa Deskey coordinates the project each year to honor her own family’s military service. “My family has served our country for generations,” Deskey explains. “My family’s service includes my grandfather and father-in-law’s service in World War II, my father’s service in the Army between the wars, my uncle’s service in the Vietnam War, my cousin’s service in Iraq, and many other ancestors’ service dating back to the Civil War.”
“Thank you to everyone who donated. Thank you to everyone who helped out with the food drive, donated or both. You all did a great job. The drive was a success. Anytime others are generous enough to give of their time and money, it’s a success.”
Items were collected at Zuber Real Estate’s Boyertown and Royersford offices throughout the month of June, and special collection days were set up at the Berksmont Business Association’s Philadelphia Avenue Street Fair and at Redner’s Market in Boyertown on Monday, June 15. Cash, check and gift card donations are also accepted and encouraged.
