Chick-fil-A currently only serves breakfast until 10:30 a.m., so you’ll have to move quickly if you want to sample a biscuit or muffin. But if you’re looking for real whole eggs, you might want to move even quicker in the other direction: Chick-fil-A is not a breakfast destination.
Breakfast biscuits may be delicious (especially our Spicy Chicken Biscuits), but egg-containing dishes like our Chicken, Egg & Cheese Biscuits are loaded with preservatives, additives and fillers. Here’s the ingredient list for each folded egg: Whole Egg, Water, Salt, Butter Flavor (Medium Chain Triglycerides, Coconut Oil, Natural Flavors), Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Annatto, Soybean Oil, Palm Kernel Oil, Soy Lecithin, Natural Flavors, Beta Carotene. Beta Carotene is used as a coloring agent to give eggs their distinctive yellow color (also known as the same color as if you used a regular whole egg).
None of these ingredients are anything to be too concerned about. Our biggest criticism is that some of the ingredients on the list, like palm kernel oil and coconut oil, are significantly higher in saturated fat and add absolutely no nutritional value to a breakfast sandwich. Most of all, it’s just frustrating to see eggs, a food that’s already packed with natural flavor, being flavored in an effort to make your morning meal as cheap and quick as possible.
