Besiktas’ new signing Ciro Immobile said the black and white club wanted him badly and this played a big role in his decision.
“I would like to thank all the management, I am very happy, I am making a new start,” said the Italian, who took part in the black and white team’s Slovenian camp last night, at a press conference held at the hotel where the camp took place. “I made this decision after receiving an offer from Besiktas. I am starting a new adventure here. We are going to start this season with great enthusiasm. The welcome at the airport was also very emotional, so I would also like to thank the fans. I will do my best,” he said.
Pointing out that it was a difficult decision to leave Lazio, the experienced striker said: “I had to make a difficult decision. It was difficult to leave the city that I loved for eight years. That’s what football is like. The process and the decision were always important. This way, I have opened a new page. This is also a joy for my family. “I want to show once again what I can do. I know that the fans of Lazio and Besiktas are very passionate. ” stated his assessment.
Icardi and Dzeko
“I want to be important for the team and help the team,” said the Italian, who said he will be competing with names such as Fenerbahce’s Edin Dzeko and Galatasaray’s Mauro Icardi, who were both top scorers in the Italian league Serie A. “We will be competing with Dzeko, Mertens and Icardi. We are aiming to prepare well for the Super Cup on August 3 and the season,” he said.
“We have some very important players in the team.”
Immobile said he will be a key player in the attacking line, “I will play an important role on and off the field. Our team also wanted a leading role in terms of goals in the game. It will be a great match,” he said. It’s an important season. I’m trying to prepare well for this season after last season. We will have further discussions about where I will play, depending on the needs of the team and the coach. I will be happy to contribute where necessary,” he said.
“I won’t promise you a goal”
Immobile avoided mentioning the number of goals, saying: “I never promise goals, but I will do my best. I want to win every match: friendlies, league matches and European matches. Istanbul is a big city. People with big families make some decisions on a city basis. They are friends that I talk to and get ideas from,” he said.
Immobile, who has never won the league in his career, said: “I always give my best and I will do everything I can to become champions together with my teammates. This is how you win trophies. A community like Besiktas should always aim to win the league.” He added: “I am a great player.”
