BREAKING NEWS! Nearly 4 million retirees are watching their pay rises. After six months of inflation, pensions will increase by 24.73 percent.
The price increase will be applied to the basic pension. Those earning a basic salary of less than 7,710 lira remained below the minimum monthly wage despite the increase.
It was found that AK Party officials had only prepared the minimum pension amount.
According to initial information reflected behind the scenes, the minimum pension is set to increase from 10,000 to 12,000 liras.
Conference for Increase
Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Minister of Finance and Accounts Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat İşhan, Deputy Chairman of the AK Party Mustafa Elitaş, and Deputy Chairman of the AK Party Group Abdullah Güler will be in attendance.
The meeting in Beştepe will be held today at 3:30 pm.
Meanwhile, an AK Party official said, “It seems impossible to raise pensioners’ benefits in a linear manner. The only thing we can consider now is to raise the minimum pension by TL 10,000.”
“In which EU country?”
After the meeting, in response to questions from reporters, Güler said it was impossible to raise wages or the minimum pension to the minimum wage level.
Güler stressed that what determines the retirement system is the amount of contributions paid, the number of years paid, and age. “My friends say, ‘There is no such minimum wage or pension in EU countries,'” Güler said. So what EU country has a 42-year-old retiree? He said:
“You can invest the difference.”
As per the conference decision, the regulations will be submitted to Parliament.
An AK Party official stressed that they are working to meet the July salary target, and if there is a shortfall, the difference can be deposited.
