NTV weather editor Dilek Çalışkan stressed that in major cities temperatures were between 29 and 30 degrees, but humidity was very high. Çalışkan said humidity in Sarjiel, Arnavutköy, Sile and the Bosphorus on the Black Sea coast rose to 99 percent in the evening, adding: “Rain will fall in Istanbul this evening and on Thursday, but humidity will continue for some time this week,” he said.

The effects of the heat are expected to continue for the next few days, but Çalşkan issued a warning.

Çalışkan said, “There is a risk of flooding again around Erzurum, Kars and Ardahan. Rain continues in Isparta, Denizli, Antalya, the hinterland of Mersin, Kayseri and Bolu. There is a risk of flooding here too. There is a possibility of flooding. Heavy rains will fall in Ankara again tomorrow,” he said.

A warning from Acom
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) said short-term and localized thunderstorms were expected in eastern Istanbul districts such as Pendik, Sultanbeyli, Tuzla and Sile from midday onwards.
The statement said that strong intermittent northerly winds (10-45 km/h) would cool the city, but temperatures would remain in the range of 31-34 degrees Celsius throughout the week.
