The Minnesota Twins defeated the Chicago White Sox 8-6 on Monday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.
This win was not only significant on the field as it improved the Twins’ record for the year to 52-39, but it was also significant in the broadcast booth as Marnie Goellner made Twins history.
According to the team’s social media:
We’re honored to have @MarneyGellner as our play-by-play announcer for this series in Chicago.

Gellner has appeared on both Valley Sports North and KFAN Radio in Minneapolis. She has worked in Minnesota for over 20 years, including broadcasting games for the Minnesota Lynx and Timberwolves.
“I’m very proud,” Goellner told MLB.com, “and just ready to move forward and play. … Both are true. I’m grateful. I think it’s a great opportunity. I’m very, very grateful. I’m excited. I don’t know what adjectives to use.”
The Twins and White Sox will meet again on Tuesday and Wednesday in what will be the final game of the series. Tuesday night’s game will kick off at 8:10 pm ET.
In this matchup, the Twins will send right-hander Bailey Ober to the mound. He will face White Sox right-hander Eric Feddy. Ober has an 8-4 record with a 4.12 ERA, while Feddy has a 6-3 record with a 3.13 ERA. He is expected to be traded by the White Sox at the trade deadline. The White Sox have the worst record in the league with 26 wins and 67 losses.
