West Glacier, Montana. [July 5, 2024] – Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park will host its 21st annual Waterton-Glacier Science and History Day on Tuesday, July 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Community Building on Albright Circle in West Glacier, Montana. The event is free and open to the public.
Participants will learn from scientists and historians about current research and historical topics related to Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park through partnerships, insights and unique perspectives on the latest research findings.
Presentations will be divided into four themes: Wildlife, Visitor Use Management, Co-Management, and Cultural and Historic Resources. Topics include efforts to vaccinate Glacier’s bats against White-Nose Syndrome, interpretation of visitor use data and management strategies in Glacier and Waterton, the collaborative success of the Northern Leopard Frog reintroduction, co-management efforts in fisheries research and management, the history of Walter B. Forrester, and the history of Glacier’s red bass.
No registration is required. Participants are encouraged to bring a packed lunch to eat during the one-hour lunch break. Canadian participants should note that a passport is required to cross the US-Canada border.
The event has alternated between the two parks each year since its inception in 2004, with the past four years held online. This will be the first in-person event since 2019.
