The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has made important updates to its ATMs and mobile applications to improve user experience and prevent fraud. Chief among these innovations are the ATMs’ card acceptance feature and a new transaction menu.
In addition to the traditional remittance methods like EFT, Transfer and FAST, a new transaction menu is now available to users, allowing them to perform more secure transactions like “Update Account Information” and “Change Password”. These transactions can now be performed more securely via internet banking and mobile banking. The latest update has also enabled card swipe functionality at ATMs to prevent fraudulent activities.
The person who made this transaction will lose their card.
A recent update to ATMs has added the ability to swallow fraudsters’ cards, thus ensuring the security of the banking system by preventing suspicious transactions at ATMs.
Under what circumstances might an ATM accept your card?
Three incorrect password attempts: If you enter the wrong password on your card three times, the card may be swallowed as a security measure. This prevents the card from being stolen or lost.
Card Cancellation Due to Debt: If your card is cancelled by your bank due to debt, your ATM card may be swallowed.
Card expiry date: If you try to make a transaction with an expired card, your ATM card may be swallowed.
If the ATM experiences a technical malfunction: In rare cases, if an ATM experiences a technical malfunction, it may swallow your card.
Report your card lost or stolen: Notifying your bank that your card is lost or stolen can result in your card being swallowed.
