The Presidency for Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) has declared areas affected by agricultural fires in the cities of Diyarbakir and Mardin as “disaster areas affecting civilian life.” AFAD’s statement read as follows:
“As a result of the fire that affected the Çinar district and villages of Diyarbakir Province and the Majdau district and villages of Mardin Province on June 20, 2024, 15 of our citizens lost their lives and farmland and animals were damaged. Due to the farmland fire in Diyarbakir and Mardin, the region was declared “affected by public life” and declared a “disaster area”, and all the resources of our country were mobilized quickly to meet the urgent needs of the relatives of our deceased citizens. For us and our families affected by the fire, a total of 5 million TL was sent to Diyarbakir Province and 2 million TL to Mardin Province, and a total of 55 million TL and 50 million TL were allocated to this region by the President. The Republic of Turkey and AFAD continue to support the country with all the resources of the state to compensate for the loss of livestock and livestock, and once again, continue to heal the wounds of our citizens who lost their lives in Turkey. May God have mercy on him and send condolences to his relatives and family. “We pray for the repose of the souls of all our citizens affected by the fire.”
