WISCASSETT — The Old Jail in Wiscasset will host a Jailhouse Rock event for all ages, with dancing, food, lawn games and tours of the cells, on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 5 p.m.
The Lincoln County Historical Society’s Old Jail Trustees invite people young and old to an evening of music featuring the Leopard Girls, a jazz-rock-blues band led by musician and composer Gary Lawless.
Bring your own picnic food or purchase it at the prison; event organizers have partnered with Wiscasset Partners in Education to sell picnic food at reasonable prices to benefit school programs. Plus, kids and kids at heart can take part in games and races, and brief tours are available for those who want to peek inside the stark cells of the 213-year-old granite prison.
Adult tickets are $5 and children are free. Jailhouse Rock will be held rain or shine. To purchase tickets online, visit www.lincolncountyhistory.org.
The Old Lincoln County Jail is located at 133 Federal Street in Wiscasset.
