VICTORVILLE, Calif. – As part of an effort to reduce landfill waste and promote composting, Victorville residents are pleased to announce that they can receive kitchen food waste bins at no charge from the City of Victorville.
The containers will be distributed to residents at the city’s Concerts in the Park at Hook Park on July 12 and 19, and can be picked up at City Hall or the Victorville Public Library during business hours. No appointment is necessary.
Residents can pick up their free kitchen food waste bins at the Code Compliance Counter on the first floor of City Hall, 14343 Civic Dr., Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents can also pick up their free containers at the Victorville City Library, located at 15011 Circle Dr., Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Designed to help you efficiently manage your organic waste at home, these bins make it convenient and easy to keep food waste separate from your garbage. Food waste includes meal leftovers, fruit and vegetable peelings, egg shells, coffee grounds, meat, fish, chicken and bones, beans, bread, etc.
Please note: All food waste must be bagged and tied before being placed in the GREEN organics cart. Residents are encouraged to use regular plastic bags for food waste collection. Biodegradable bags are not required.
Dispose of drinks and liquid food down your kitchen drain. Do not dispose of them in your kitchen waste bin. Kitchen waste bins are provided through a grant from the California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
