Following a heavy rain warning issued by the 10th Regional Meteorological Office on July 7, as of 1:30 p.m., 186.7 km of rain had fallen in Ikisje district, 89.8 km of rain in Uniye district, and 78.43 km of rain in Chaybaş district.
In a statement, the Ordu Governor said: “As a result of the rainfall, 6 floods, 10 strandings and 1 missing person report were received at the 112 emergency call center. It was reported that our national citizen named Hatice Kojakoci, 83 years old, fell into a culvert in front of his house in the Çaybash Çayil district and was swept away by the floodwaters, and our teams went to the scene. AFAD, fire brigade, gendarmerie and municipality teams arrived at the scene. The body of the missing person was found. In addition, the Unye-Ikisce highway is closed due to a landslide and works to open it are being carried out by the Roads Department. Transportation will be provided via secondary roads. Work on Rusmat is continuing by local municipality teams. There was damage to roads, infrastructure and superstructures. “Relevant agencies and organizations continue their efforts to restore damage caused by the rains and floods.”

The Ordu provincial governor sent an SMS message to residents saying the rain had not yet stopped, saying: “According to meteorology, very strong thunderstorms are expected in Ordu tomorrow. Please be aware of flooding, inundation, lightning strikes, landslides and traffic disruptions.”
