Statement from the Turkish Space Agency
The Turkish Space Agency said in a statement that “the meteors seen this evening in the sky in different parts of our country have caused excitement. The colour that a meteor forms as it enters the atmosphere depends on several factors, including the chemical composition of the meteor, its speed and the surrounding gases in the Earth’s atmosphere.”

Visible from the capital
The light scattered by the meteor was seen in many parts of Turkey and was also observed from Ankara. Citizens who saw the light recorded the moment on their mobile phones. The colorful light scattered by the meteor disappeared after a while.
