Search for suspects responsible for attack
The Homicide Department team of the Denizli Provincial Police Security Bureau launched an investigation after the incident and determined that the person who carried out the attack and fled in a car was Meri K. John. It was discovered that Izzet Duman was next to Meri K. at the time of the incident. While Melih K. was being searched for, Izzet Duman turned himself in to the police two days later. Mr. Duman was arrested by the court on a referral.
“They met on the road and exchanged gunfire.”
In his statement to the police, Izzet Duman said he was with his friend Mehrif K. during the incident and said, “Mehrif K. told me that his wife was cheating on him with Emra Ghermez. We met Emra Ghermez while driving in our car.” A car stopped on a side street and Emra Ghermez and Mehrif K.’s eyes met. Mehrif K. took a gun out of the car window and pointed it at Emra Ghermez. I took my own gun and pointed it at Mehrif K. I took the opportunity to take the gun from Mehrif K’s hand, got out of the car and said, “Emra, put your gun down, you are a disgrace.” Without pointing the gun at Emra Ghermez, I said, “You were standing in front of us.” As he said this, Emra was still pointing his gun at Mehrif K. to prevent the incident from escalating further. I fired two shots with my gun into the air. Emra Ghermez then put down his gun and sat in the left seat of the car we were driving, waiting with the gun in his hand. “I said to Meri K., ‘Let’s get out of here,’ and all of a sudden he took the gun from my hand, got out of the car, pointed it at Emra Ghermez and fired two shots at his feet,” he said.

“He hit him in the head multiple times with the handle of the gun.”
Izzet Duman said in a statement that Emra Ghermez’s son, Muhammet Hussein Ghermez, intervened and said: “Don’t shoot my father,” adding:
“At that moment, one of the bullets from Mehri K’s gun hit Muhammet Hussein Ghermez, causing him to fall to the ground. After the child fell to the ground, Mehri K shot Emra Ghermez repeatedly. When it ran out of bullets, the gun in Mehri K’s hand fell to the ground. “Mehri K picked up the gun that had fallen on the ground and hit Emra Ghermez several times in the head with the handle. After the incident, Mehri got into his car and we drove away from the scene.”
