SALUDA — The Saluda Pop-Up Pantry has received a $1,600 donation from Food Lion Feed Charitable Foundation to help nourish hungry neighbors.
“Feeding the Hungry” grants support local food partners by increasing neighborhood access to nutritious foods and providing nutrition education to eliminate health risks for food insecure people.
Since last year, Saluda Pantry has seen a significant increase in the number of individuals and families in need, many of whom are experiencing food insecurity for the first time. This grant will allow them to purchase food from other sources when MANNA is unable to deliver due to supply chain issues. Saluda Pantry is grateful for this grant, which will allow them to continue serving those in need.
Food Lion’s philanthropic arm, Food Lion Feed Charitable Foundation, is committed to helping families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Founded in 2001, the Foundation provides funding to programs and organizations that feed local residents in the communities they serve. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $18.9 million in grants.
The charitable foundation partners with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief agency, as well as local food agencies serving the 10 Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states Food Lion operates in. For more information, visit www.foodlion.com/pages/food-lion-feeds .
